A moving tale of a dog abandoned in the bush.

A delightful children's book — one that you will want to keep. For lovers of animals and others, Gus is a charming tale of a German Shepherd that you will want to read and re-read. Dumped by his master, Gus is left in isolated bush a long way from home. Confused and hurt by The Man's actions Gus struggles to find life and sense in a dark wood. What makes this book special is that we hear the story of Gus's survival from his point of view and we are in there battling for him at every turn.

First time author, Carole Sutton, has lived in Western Australia for 15 years and has based the book upon her own observation of dog behaviour and cleverly recaptures the dog's character.

Gus was selected to appear in the Education Departent of Western Australia's publication "Primary Focus 1996" and has been recommended by the Department as prime reading for middle and upper primary school curricula.

The book also boasts many beautiful illustrations by local artist Heather Mast.
